Video cleanup guide

Remove Old Prices and Promo Text From Product Videos

For product video text removal, change the original text layer and export again whenever you have the editing project. If the only authorized source is a flattened video, test a short representative segment, keep each cleanup region tight, review the product in motion, and add the new wording later as an editable layer. Cleanup works best when the old copy stays away from moving product details.

What this page helps you decide

What is this guide?
A product video text removal workflow for turning authorized footage with obsolete baked-in copy into a clean working master.
Who is it for?
Product marketers, ecommerce teams, agencies, and editors using product video text removal for prices, dates, claims, or calls to action.
When should I use it?
Use product video text removal when the footage remains accurate but visible text in the only usable export is no longer current.
How does it work?
Product video text removal starts with source verification, a difficult test interval, motion review, and separately approved replacement copy.
What result should I expect?
A product video text removal result is a clean base for re-editing, not an automatic replacement or approval of the new claim.

Workflow

Turn an old product export into a clean working master

Use this product video text workflow when the source project is unavailable and you are authorized to edit the flattened video.

  1. Verify the footage Confirm the product behavior is still accurate and that you have permission to edit the video and its visible text.
  2. Test tight target areas Choose a short interval containing the hardest motion and select each disconnected line without crossing the product.
  3. Review the complete motion Watch the cleaned interval at normal speed and inspect product edges, reflections, color, texture, and every text transition.
  4. Rebuild editable copy Save the clean master, then add the approved price or message as a separate text layer in your editor.

Decide whether the product footage is still accurate

Removing an old price does not update everything else in a demo. Before touching the video, confirm that the interface, packaging, availability, offer dates, legal qualifiers, and product behavior still match the version you plan to promote.

If the product itself changed, a new recording is usually safer than cosmetically refreshing an obsolete demonstration. Keep the cleanup scope limited to footage that remains truthful without the old words.

  1. List every visible claim, price, date, URL, contact detail, and supplier label.
  2. Ask the product owner which items remain approved.
  3. Check whether the shown interface or physical packaging has changed.
  4. Mark shots that need a new recording instead of a text edit.
  5. Keep a copy of the approval and the untouched source.

Edit the source project whenever you can

An editable title, caption, or graphic layer is the cleanest route. Disable the obsolete layer, update the approved wording, and export again from the original timeline. No system needs to infer the hidden background because the underlying footage is still present.

Ask the original editor for the project, clean master, linked graphics, or a textless deliverable before accepting a flattened file as the only source. That small search can save a destructive repair and makes the next campaign easier to update.

Write a product video text removal brief

A short brief keeps the edit from expanding into an unreviewed product refresh. Record the exact interval and wording to remove, what must remain untouched, and what replacement copy will be added later.

A reusable cleanup brief for product-video revisions.
FieldWhat to recordWhy it matters
Authorized sourceOwner, file name, project or export, permissionPrevents work on an uncontrolled asset
Obsolete copyExact words, time range, screen positionKeeps the removal target specific
Protected subjectProduct edge, hand, cursor, reflection, UI controlDefines what the cleanup must not change
Approval ownerPerson responsible for price, claim, or legal wordingSeparates visual cleanup from claim approval
DeliverablesUntouched original, clean master, revised editable versionPreserves a reversible workflow

Keep the selection away from moving product details

A broad box may look efficient, but it can ask the cleanup to rewrite a bottle edge, a hand, a cursor, or a changing interface. In the controlled product example, a single large region crossed a moving pump and produced ghosting. Two tight regions around “NEW DROP” and “29 USD” protected the foreground more effectively.

Test the hardest overlap, not the easiest opening frame. If a product passes behind the old copy and is never visible elsewhere, the repair may not have enough information to rebuild that moment convincingly.

Add the replacement as an editable layer

Once the clean master passes review, add the new price, feature name, date, or call to action in the editor that owns the final campaign. Match the approved language, safe margins, timing, typography, and accessibility needs of the destination.

RemoveText.video cleans eligible text from video pixels. It does not replace the wording, verify a product claim, or translate the message. Keeping those tasks separate makes future corrections possible without another cleanup pass.

  1. Import the reviewed clean master into the campaign project.
  2. Add the approved wording as a new text or graphic layer.
  3. Check timing and safe margins in every destination crop.
  4. Export a review version for product and legal approval.
  5. Archive the clean master and editable project separately.

Review the entire affected interval

Watch at normal speed first, then inspect the first and last frame of each old text event. Look at nearby product edges and reflections, not only the empty area where the letters used to be.

A motion review catches problems a single still can hide.
Review pointLook forReturn condition

Know what cleanup cannot update

A clean-looking background does not make old footage accurate. Cleanup cannot validate a price, confirm inventory, update the behavior of an interface, or repair a product demonstration that no longer matches reality.

If the base footage passes those checks, the clean master becomes a reusable asset. If it does not, treat that finding as a reason to record again rather than hiding the mismatch with new copy.

Have an authorized export with baked-in product copy?

Common questions

Can I change a price directly in an exported product video?

You can remove an obsolete baked-in price from an authorized export, then add the approved replacement in your editing workflow. The cleanup step does not verify or insert the new price.

Should I reuse a demo if the product interface changed?

Only when the interaction still accurately represents the product. Removing old text does not make an outdated workflow current.

Why should disconnected text use separate selections?

Separate tight regions can avoid a moving product or clean background between the words. A single broad box may alter more pixels than the task requires.

Can the tool replace the old text automatically?

No. RemoveText.video currently performs eligible cleanup. Add replacement copy as an editable layer in a separate editor.

What files should I keep?

Keep the untouched source, the clean master, the editable project with new copy, and the final approved exports.

What should I test first in a long product video?

Use a short interval containing the most detailed background, closest product overlap, and at least one text entrance or exit.
